Adobe Forums: How to install Adobe Reader X without installing any McAfee products?

You have to go to http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ to get your Adobe Reader to make your new HP printer work WITHOUT   McAffee scanner. Why does my purchase of a printer - mine, not end when I go home?. I took it home and set it up. I need to scan documents for a job. The first scan says I need Adobe reader to run the GUI (graphical user interface) - which is huge, bloated and slow. Fine. I'll install Adobe. Adobe wants to install McAffee ( the VERY WORST "antivirus" out there ) and the " no thanks button"  only shows in Internet Explorer. Give me a break HP - does the corporate incest get any worse? It has caused birth defects in your products. Please just give me the program to run my printer I gave you money for and don't pimp other stuff (adobe, mcaffee) that you own or make deals with.

How to remove XP Security Tool 2010, XP Defender Pro, and Vista Security Tool 2010 (Uninstall Guide)

How to remove Win 7 security 2010, XP Defender Pro, and Vista Security Tool 2010 (Uninstall Guide):

This worked this morning on a client's computer to remove "hostage ware" that masquerades as anti virus and wants your money to "fix" the problem though it is the problem. Be sure to run the FixExe.reg first - it shuts the program down temporarily so you can install Malwarebytes. The virus is so nasty it will not let you on the internet to download the very tools you need to remove it. Bring the software to the computer on a thumbdrive or cd - but beware! The virus will offer to "scan" the thumbdrive for viruses. CLICK NO! Then follow the instructions from the above link. I had to do it all twice (a common occurence) to remove it. If this doesn't work you can try ComboFix - or call me! $35 flat fee to fix any computer.
